Data & sources

NYSDOT Data is independent software by CivilOS that joins public agency datasets. It is not a state service.

How records are linked

Records are joined only on identifiers the sources publish: a BIN, a contract number or a PIN. Every link on a page says why it is there, for example “Title names BIN 4060680” or “Same PIN”. A BIN in a contract's index row does not prove every drawing applies to that structure.

Conditions

Bridge condition is FHWA's Good, Fair or Poor status as the structure layer publishes it. Large culverts have no FHWA status, so NYSDOT Data bands their NYSDOT rating (1 to 7): below 4 is shown as poor, below 5 as fair. That banding is ours, not NYSDOT's.

Official files

NYSDOT Data links to NYSDOT's own pages and files: Record Plans Online, contract documents, Projects in Your Neighborhood and the specification books. It never downloads, copies or rehosts drawings, and it does not check which files a repository holds. NYSDOT's letting pages ask automated tools not to read them, so letting dates, bidders and results are linked, not copied.

Licences

data.ny.gov datasets are published under the OPEN-NY Terms of Use. The NYSDOT ArcGIS services permit free download and use. The basemap is USGS The National Map, public domain.

Free and private

Reading, printing and downloading need no account. Saving research uses a free account; saved entries are personal and never public. Verify records and conditions before relying on them for project decisions.
